Useful advices and examples
- Before backup/restore operations always close all other opened applications.
- If you use palm-size PC reboot device by "Reset" button before backup/restore operations.
- If during restoring an error was occurred, reboot device by "Reset" button, make sure that all other applications are closed and then retry the restore operation.
- If during restore retrying an error was occurred again, look for error's tree:
- For example item OBJECT 1 ± means that OBJECT 1 could not be modified. Usually it is not a serious error and can be ignored;
- Item OBJECT 1 - means that object OBJECT 1 could not be deleted and also is not serious error. Try to remove it manually.
- If auto backup option is turned on do not forget leave memory card (SRAM or FLASH) in a slot.
- Make backup before and right after installation of any queer application. It helps you fully remove such application and all its components even system cannot remove it properly. It also helps you to restore an earlier removed application.
Example 1.
Input data:
State N-1 in particular contains the information about following:
- Application1 is installed;
- Document1 not present.
State N in particular contains information about following:
- Application1 is installed;
- Document1 is present.
At present time
- Application1 not present;
- Document1 not present.
Task:
restore Document1 only.
Solution:
If you make simple restoring from "State N" both the Document1 and Application1 will be restored. However if you make advanced restore procedure the only Document1 will be restored.
Steps:
Double tap on "State N".
Object tree shows difference between "State N" and "State N-1". It is Document1.
If you press "+" button, ArtSSave will restore Document1. If you press "-" button, ArtSSave will try to delete Document1 from device. However because of Document1 is not present on device nothing will happen...
Example 2:
Input data:
- You have palm-size device - PPC (there is no file explorer);
- Because of power supply failure all data were lost;
- You have no access to desktop computer (for example you are in business trip)
- However you have memory card with installed ArtSSave and created backup of your device.
Task:
Restore all data.
Solution:
- Open Inbox application;
- Create new message (menu->Compose->New Message);
- Add attachment (menu->Attachments->Other Attachments->);
- Select program artsoft_artssave_agent Application;
- To run artsoft_artssave_agent.exe press button or double tap on this item;
- After some spade-work ArtSSave will be started and you can restore all data on your device.
